Despite her young age, Blake Lively is already considered one of the biggest fashion icons of our current generation. Anytime she is out and about, especially on the red carpet, it's easy to understand why so many are in awe of her. This dress is adorable and it’s something you wouldn't think you could wear every day and yet Blake pulled it off flawlessly.
Judging by her fashion choices, you would have to assume she had a stylist but Lively claims she doesn’t use one.
“Probably because I have control issues and a big ego—that’s probably the honest answer,” Lively joked. Seriously though she has stated that it’s because it allows her to be “more imaginative than acting” allows her to be. “I love design and I love fashion, and it’s a way to be creative," she explained.
19 When She Was A Pregnant Princess
During this phase of her life, she was all about the Disney princess look and we saw her in half a dozen dresses that made us basically want to be her.
This dress was her depiction of Elsa from the movie Frozen.
"In my job, I get to be creative, but it’s over a period of time and so many other people are involved, whereas this is a beginning, middle, and end, and I get to be creative and there’s an end date in the near future.”

There are not too many people who could pull off a look as precious as this one. It’s exactly the kind of stylish number you would expect someone with that pregnancy glow to have. We would love to take a look inside her closet. "It’s the same reason why I like doing my friends’ hair and makeup or cooking—you get to be creative and finish it," she said.
"Whereas with my job you do it, and then two years later it’s finished. It probably goes back to the control issues; it’s like, ‘OK, I did it, I completed it, it’s done!’”

Blue is definitely this girl’s color and we have to admit she looks a little like royalty here. The hardest part for Lively is finding all the glamorous choices that she wants to take to events. “The hard part is going through all the fashion shows and screenshotting all the looks you like and calling them in," she said. "I have an assistant who helps in calling in the looks. But a lot of it is I have relationships with the designers.”

She looks lovely in this yellow dress and it’s the perfect flowing look for a pregnancy. The best part of Lively’s life of fashion is that sometimes designers will make custom dresses just for her. “I just sent Lorraine Schwartz and Christian Louboutin my dress, and said, ‘OK, let’s do something special,’” she told WWD. “They’re making something custom for it. So it’s kind of nice because I have a bunch of artists around me who I have direct relationships with. It’s sort of a group effort with that. I rely on people who do that for a living rather than outsourcing it to someone else.”
15 Her Daughter Told Her She Forgot A Major Component
It can be hard to be a fashionable woman who has kids, especially when your child tells you to go put some clothes on. In the case of this sweater dress that was exactly what happened to Lively. She was leaving for an event and her daughter assumed she had forgotten an important part of her wardrobe.
"True story: As the elevator closed my daughter yelled after me, 'Oh no mama, you forgot your pants!'" Lively posted the picture on social media explaining the situation.
That’s not only hilarious but something that she can one day remind her daughter when she starts dressing “fashionable.”

We have noticed over the years that Lively is not afraid of colors or mixing prints for that matter. She has her own sense of style and that includes the way that she does her hair and makeup as well. She explained,
“I always like hair being a little messy because I think there's something [charming] about the whimsy of putting on a gown with any hair or make-up - just stepping into it, and you're ready.”
She does have a habit of wearing her hair a little more tousled than normal. But bedhead has always been a good look for her.
13 She Makes Elegance Look Easy
Blake Lively seems to be able to pull off any look whether it’s elegant or anything else. She has even managed to pull off a full plaid suit. “It’s a lot of work – I mean, it’s not hard in that we all dress ourselves every morning. So once you have the clothes, you just pick out what to wear like any other human being does. But it’s easier because you have access to clothes and so it’s not that hard,” Lively explained in an interview at Barneys New York.

We just love, love, love this look. Who would have thought that pregnancy could look so incredible? We may think that Lively could pull of any outfit but she disagrees. As she talked about another guest’s marigold trench and trousers look at the Barney’s event, she said,
“And then, I don’t know, you just try on things. Like I tried on what Martha [Hunt] is wearing and it [just didn't look good]– but on her it looks beautiful and chic. I was like, ‘that’s how that’s supposed to look!’”
Well, you can’t win them all but she does a pretty good job most of the time.

We love the fact that Lively is so into fashion because now we can copy her looks. She definitely makes fashion look easy even though we know it’s not.

It was tough on her admittedly. "This one," she told E!'s Zanna Roberts Rassi at the Michael Kors fashion show referring to Emily Blunt beside her. "She was like just this [...] two months after birth and I think that that's what's so hard is that like you compare yourself to other moms."
4 She Takes Casual and Makes It Chic
Even her casual looks manage to be so chic and amazing. Lively has said that she didn’t enjoy being pregnant in the summertime for her last pregnancy. She told Jimmy Fallon there should be a law against being, "pregnant in New York in July… I swear, I'm going to make my water break just so I can cool down."
She also stated that her daughter James sensed that she was pregnant before she was told. "She sort of told me before I even knew. She was walking around kissing my belly saying 'Baby!' But now anytime she sees anyone else with a belly she says 'baby', which is a little embarrassing."

We love the bright colors that Lively brings to this outfit. The jacket with the floral elements is truly one of a kind. Lively loved joking around with Seth Meyers on his show while she was pregnant. “You have a baby at home, and you have a baby on the way, congratulations,” Meyers said.
But Lively quickly quipped back, “What makes you say that?… You know you don’t ever say that to a woman.” She laughed and confirmed that she was pregnant, “Yes, this is not brownies.”

For one of her baby showers, she dressed up warm as it was at her home in Bedford. You can see that it was quite the event and Lively never looked more beautiful.
She’s definitely gotten used to the New York winters and has used it as an excuse to buy more clothes.
“I was raised in California, so this whole New York winter thing is completely new for me. I've already justified buying seven coats!” She certainly has the right idea and we love the tweed pullover jacket that she is wearing in this photo.

She has said that her whole family has been in the industry in one form or another so she comes from a long line of women who love fashion. “My whole family's been in the business.” But it was her mother that loved fashion. “My mom modeled and made clothes, so I always had such an appreciation for design.”
