Usually, we think of daddy's girls and mama's boys in a negative way. We think that they're the people who are overly dependent on their parents and we assume that it means that their parents can't let them go and let them live their own life. However, this is not always the case. Of course, there are a lot of examples of dysfunctional and overly-dependent relationships between parents and children, but there are also examples of the parents, who love their kids very much and do everything to help them attain their dreams. There are also a lot of grown-up sons and daughters who are sincerely grateful to their parents for everything they have done for them.

Many examples of these healthy and loving mother-son/father-daughter relationships can be found among celebrities. Their moms and dads have always been there to support, listen, guide, and encourage them. They stayed on their side, no matter what. They were beside them through thick and thin. So we shouldn't be surprised that a lot of celebrities credit their successful careers to their parents, saying that they wouldn't become who they are if it wasn't for their moms and dads.

From Leonardo DiCaprio to Colin Farrel, from Jennifer Aniston to Blake Lively, let's see which celebrities can rightfully be called mama's boys and daddy's girls (in the best sense of these terms).

22 Ryan Gosling - Sincerely Grateful For His Mom's Support

For a lot of women, Ryan Gosling is the embodiment of their dreams. He's not only talented and handsome, but he also loves his mother very much. We can only imagine how grateful he is for always being there for him. Obviously, Gosling wanted his mom to get along with the woman he chose, so he always encouraged Eva Mendes, the mother of his two daughters, to spend quality time with his mother.

It's funny how this charming man always lives with women around him. In childhood, Ryan lived with his mother and sister, later commenting, "I grew up with two incredible women, my mother, and sister, and naturally my way of looking at the world was shaped by a female perspective", and now he lives with his wife and two daughters.

21 Nicole Kidman - Lost A Loving Father

The father of Nicole Kidman, Antony Kidman was a biochemist, clinical psychologist, and author. Unfortunately, he passed away of a heart attack in a Singaporean hotel in 2014. After this tragedy, the actress shared with everyone how much she loved her father and how much he supported her during her entire life. He wasn't only there for her when she was starting her acting career, but he also supported the actress after she divorced Tom Cruise. Kidman recalled that back then her father said to her, "Nic, it's going to be OK. It isn't what it could've been, it isn't what it should have been, it is what it is."

In her eulogy speech, the actress also added, "I'm so lucky to be his daughter, and that he chose my mother to make me with." Heartbreaking...

20 Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson - Knows His Mom Is Happy Now

For Dwayne Johnson, his mother, Ata Johnson, has always been a key figure in his success. For this reason, the wrestler and actor loves his mother beyond all measures. On Mother's Day 2015, he shared a post that revealed this love to the world.

Once, when they were having an early flight, Dwayne asked her, ‘Are you happy ma?’ and right after it, the flight attendant placed her breakfast down on the table and she responded, ‘Am I happy?... I used to worry about how I was going to buy groceries for us and now I just had my breakfast placed down in front of me.’

Johnson recalled, "She bursts into tears and says, 'Yes, son, I couldn’t be happier.' At this moment I'm shaking my head and smiling quietly (as my mom blows her nose;) ’cause she just told me she’s happy. And y’all know when our parents tell us they’re happy, it's so satisfying for us, ’cause it means we’ve done a good job for them as their kids."

19 Lady Gaga - Her Dad Was Always There For Her

It's hard to attain success without the support of your loved ones. Lady Gaga was lucky because she had the support of both of her parents, especially her father, whom she frequently takes to different events and mentions in her interviews.

Joe Germanotta, Gaga's dad, is a successful man himself, so he certainly knows how hard it is to achieve your goal. He's been supporting the singer throughout her life. When she dropped out of the school of arts, he agreed to help her with her rent and was there for her during he road to stardom. He also was an inspiration for Gaga's song "Speechless" and in 2011 the singer gave her father the rights to 50% of her profit under their LLCs, Team Love Child and Mermaid Music.

18 Leonardo DiCaprio - Extremely Thankful To His Mom

If you think that Leonardo DiCaprio only hangs out with super-models and bikini-clad women to have fun, you're wrong. The actor also regularly spends time with his mother, who has always played a significant role in his life.

When DiCaprio was getting a BAFTA award for his role in The Revenant, he only thanked his mom in his acceptance speech. "There's one person I have to thank," the actor said. "I would not be standing up here if it weren't for this person. I didn't grow up in a life of privilege – I grew up in a very rough neighbourhood in East Los Angeles, and this woman drove me for three hours a day to a different school to show me a different opportunity. It is her birthday today. So Mom, happy birthday. I love you very much."

17 Jennifer Aniston - Inherited Acting Gene From Her Dad

Jennifer Aniston got her acting skills from her father, who's also an actor. He's been playing in an American TV show Days of Our Lives for 30 years. Watching his career, Jennifer also realized her dream was to become an actress. Her father, in his turn, always supported her on her way to stardom. He was there for Jennifer with a wise advice and we can be sure that he shared a lot of his acting experience with her, to make his daughter's way to fame easier.

As a very special thank you for all the support, Jennifer took her dad as a date with her to the ceremony when she was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012.

16 Matthew McConaughey - Has a Close Relationship With His Mom

The mother of Matthew McConaughey, affectionately called K-Mac by her famous son, is a stereotypical southern belle, who comes from a close-knit family from Texas. She's extremely friendly, loud, and gregarious. Besides, according to the actor, she also likes to party. "I do not remember the last time when we partied when she didn't go to bed after me and get up before me," Matthew recalls.

Even when Matthew and K-Mac can't spend time together, due to him being away for work, they still keep in touch, like, all the time. Every Sunday, they talk over the phone and the actor shares all his news with his mom. It's cool to know that there're sons, who actually call their moms regularly!

15 Miley Cyrus - Support Through Thick And Thin

We could see Billy Ray Cyrus, the father of Miley Cyrus, acting alongside her in Hanna Montana, so it's easy to guess that he has always supported all undertakings of his daughter in music and acting. Even now, Miley still relies on her father for his support in everything she does.

It's important to note that Billy Ray was there for his daughter, even during her infamous antics. He defended her in the media saying, "She could have stayed Hannah Montana forever and made a great living doing that. But she's more of an artist than that, and she wanted to evolve, and she had to take her time and let that evolution take place. And again, she's very, very smart and she's had all of this thought out in advance."

14 Bradley Cooper - Happy To Be Next To His Mother

Both parents of Bradley Cooper have always been supportive of his acting career. But unfortunately, his father passed away of lung cancer in 2011. When he was sick, the actor decided to relocate to Los Angeles to take care of him and when he passed away, Bradley stayed to live with his mother. Two years later, Cooper commented on this decision to the media, saying, "Let's face it: It's probably not easy for her, by the way, to be living with her son. It's life. And right now, two years after my father's death, this is where we are."

Only a very loving and supportive son could do such a thing and stay with his mom when she needed him the most, right?

13 Blake Lively - Took After Her Dad

Like Jennifer Aniston, Blake Lively also has an acting background in her family, as her father, Ernie Lively, was an actor, too. In fact, Blake's acting career began, when she appeared in the 1998 film Sandman directed by her father. So it's safe to assume that Blake's dad has always been a huge support for the actress, during her entire life.

When Blake Lively had just married Ryan Reynolds (to start a family and begin making us happy with their hilarious tweets), her father stated in an interview, "She is newly married and wants a big family. She says she wants 30 kids. I said, 'Why don't you start with one?'" Now we can guess from who Blake inherited her sense of humor.

12 Justin Timberlake - Best Friends With His Mom

Justin Timberlake is so grateful to his mother for everything she's done for him that he even got a tattoo with her initials on his back. "We have a very special relationship," Timberlake said in an interview back in 2003. "She’s been my best friend since I figured out who I wanted to be. She’s great, and such a fun woman. She goes out with me and stays out later than I do. She’s always been there beside me, and I think that’s part of my problem with girls. You keep searching for somebody as good as your mother, and that’s a losing battle."

Isn't it lovely that Justin finally won this battle and found the love of his life? But, obviously, it didn't make him love his mom less. "Everything I am and continue to strive to be is because of you. I love you, Momma," he wrote in a post in honor of her birthday in 2015.

11 Liv Tyler - Rocky, But Loving, Relationship

Liv Tyler didn't have her rockstar father, Steve Tyler, by her side in her early childhood, because she only learned that he was her dad later in life. Now, the actress recalls that she was "madly in love" with him from the first sight.

Liv and Steve met for the first time when she was taking part in the music video for Aerosmith's song "Crazy". Back then, she was only 17. Then they also worked together on the video for "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing", Aerosmith's soundtrack for Armageddon, where Liv starred. Back then, Steve said, "I figured if I got a couple songs in this movie, I'd get a chance to spend time with Liv… I never see her. These days, she does three movies to my one album."

Now they're spending much more time together and they've truly bonded as father and daughter.

10 Jared Leto - Was Always Rich In Love

Once Jared Leto said that while he was growing up, he was poor financially but rich in love. It was all thanks to his single mother, who never failed to love him and give him everything she could.

In 2014, Leto took his mom to the Academy Awards ceremony, on which he was awarded as Best Supported Actor. "In 1971," Jared began his acceptance speech, "there was a teenage girl who was pregnant with her second child. She was a high-school dropout and a single mom, but somehow she managed to make a better life for herself and her children. That girl is my mother, and she's here tonight. And I just wanna say, I love you, Mom. Thank you for teaching me to dream."

9 Angelina Jolie - Through Ups And Downs To Good Relations

Angelina Jolie used to have a complicated relationship with her father actor Jon Voight, but not too long ago they mended and now they're getting closer. In her recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress admitted, "Jon and I have gotten to know each other — through grandchildren now — [and] we're finding a new relationship, and it's very, very nice. We've had some difficulties, [but] through art we've been able to talk. It's the common language."

In his turn, Voight stated, "I love my daughter, and I'm very impressed by her directing. I'm crazy about her and my grandchildren." It's good to know that they managed to reconcile and now they're building a healthy father-daughter relationship.

8 Kanye West - Considers His Mother As Inspiration

Kanye West has never hidden the love for his mother. He often says that she's always been his biggest inspiration, he dedicated a number of songs to her, including "Hey Mama" and "Only One", and he also named his design and content company DONDA after her.

Sadly, Donda West passed away in 2007. According to the Los Angeles coroner's office, it happened due to multiple post-operative factors from liposuction and mammoplasty. The rapper has long blamed himself for her death saying, "If I had never moved to L.A., she'd be alive. I don't want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears."

7 Ashton Kutcher - Made A Surprise Gift For His Mother

Ashton Kutcher has repeatedly stated that his mother was "the biggest influence" in his life. Once, to prove how much she means to him, the actor renovated the basement in his childhood home as a surprise for Mother's Day. It had been Kutcher's dream for a long time to do it for his mom, so the actor was very happy to finally show how much he loved his mother and how grateful he was to her.

Ashton has always had a close relationship with his mother, especially after she divorced his father. They supported one another in all endeavors and now they're still close. Shouldn't we be happy for them?

6 Bryce Dallas Howard - Close To Her Dad Since Early Childhood

In her speech at 2015's DGA Honors Gala, Bryce Dallas Howard, the daughter of famous film director Ron Howard, said that her father has always been "the most sensitive, patient, and inclusive father on planet Earth". The actress went on to add that when she was a kid, every day "felt like Bring Your Daughter to Work Day" to her because she spent a lot of time on set with her dad.

"I was sitting in his [director's] chair, on his shoulders, hanging out kind of nonstop on set," the actress shared. "I think that was really an incredible experience for me." It must have been so exciting for her!

5 Drake - Has A Tiny, But Strong Hero

The love between Drake and his mother Sandi is unrivaled. She has always supported him and he's always been thankful to her for it. He wrote a lot of his songs in her honor and shared with the world how much he loves her multiple times.

Once Drake wrote a post in her honor stating, "Happy Mothers Day to my tiny hero. Love you so much." I bet his mom's heart melted after she read it! And in one of the most emotional songs he wrote, "You & The 6", the rapper shared how much he appreciated his mother's efforts in raising him into a good man and how grateful he was because she "saved his life."

4 Kelly Osbourne - Her Dad Is #1 Man For Her

Even though things haven't always been easy in the Osbourne clan, Kelly can still be considered a daddy's girl. At least now she is because Kelly learned to understand her famous father.

After the star broke up with her fiance Matthew Mosshart, she wrote a post to declare that her dad was the most important man in her life. She stated, "There will never be any man in this world that I love more than my dad!" Later she made another post with Ozzy's photo and a comment, "My Dadda is the best person on earth to go to #hollywood parties with all we do is laugh because we can't take anything seriously!"

3 Colin Farrell - Helped His Mom Find Her Love

Colin Farrel brought his mother to a number of events with him because he loves her and appreciates everything she's done for him, especially at the beginning of his acting career. It's interesting that Farrel considers that the most successful film he's ever played in was Fright Night, but not in terms of financial success. On the set of this film, his mother met her future husband producer Joel Michaels.

"My mother is in her 70s and so is her husband, and that’s it, done. So excuse me for being an idealist for a second, but anyone can create their own definitions of success and failure in their life or career," the actor admitted. "If my being in Fright Night led to my mother’s happiness, then, yes, absolutely, that film will always be the greatest success of my career."
